The Basajaun challenges riders for its 2027 edition, commencing on July 25 from Santo Domingo Plaza, 27, 01012 Gasteiz, Araba, Spain, in Vitoria-Gasteiz. This epic journey covers a substantial 890 kilometers, designed as a self-supported bikepacking adventure where the clock runs continuously from start to finish. Riders will tackle a demanding 15000 meters of elevation gain across diverse terrain, with 70 percent of the route taking riders off-road. The course winds through the lush forests of Urbasa and Irati, descends into the semi-desert landscape of Bardenas Reales, and then ascends the Sierra de la Demanda, reaching high altitudes near Pico San Lorenzo before returning to Vitoria-Gasteiz. Starting at 08:00, the event, organised by Transibérica, concludes on August 1, offering a true test of endurance and self-reliance in the Spanish wilderness. Entry fees range from 330€ to 599€ for those ready to embrace this formidable challenge.
